Born in Punjab, Harleen Deol is an aggressive top-order batter who represents Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket—a shift driven by her father's job relocation and the superior facilities at the Himachal women’s academy. A naturally attacking player, Harleen is particularly effective against spin, using her nimble footwork to combine power and finesse with equal ease. A wrist spinner herself, Harleen initially started as an off-spinner but transitioned to leg-spin to fill a gap in the Punjab sub-junior team—highlighting her adaptability from an early age. Though still developing as a bowler, she possesses the raw skills to become a genuine all-rounder at the highest level. Harleen made her international debut in 2019, featuring in both ODIs and T20Is after impressing consistently on the domestic circuit. Her fearless style of play and versatility with the bat made her a valuable addition to India's white-ball squads. Growing up, Harleen played gully cricket with boys, as opportunities for girls were still limited. While this raised a few eyebrows in her neighbourhood, she received unwavering support from her parents—especially her mother, who stood firmly by her choices. That early exposure to street cricket sharpened her instincts and helped forge the competitive edge that now defines her game. Harleen cites the legendary Shane Warne as her inspiration—like many wrist spinners of her generation—and her admiration for him reflects in her approach to the craft. She first gained broader attention during the 2019 Women’s T20 exhibition match held as part of the Indian Premier League, where her all-round skills were on display on a global stage. Off the field, Harleen is known for her upbeat, cheerful personality. A lover of music, she especially enjoys singing rap, further showcasing the confidence and individuality that she brings to every aspect of her life. With her fearless batting, developing leg-spin, and vibrant presence, Harleen Deol represents the exciting new face of Indian women’s cricket.
