Yash Dayal made his IPL debut in 2022 with Gujarat Titans, where the left-arm pacer impressed in his maiden season by picking up 11 wickets. However, the 2023 season proved to be a challenging one. Dayal endured a difficult moment when he was taken apart by Rinku Singh in a dramatic last-over finish at Ahmedabad, conceding five consecutive sixes as Kolkata Knight Riders pulled off a stunning victory. It was a harsh lesson early in his career and a moment that tested his resilience. Dayal bounced back strongly the following season after joining Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In IPL 2024, he claimed 15 wickets and played a key role in RCB’s bowling attack, showcasing his ability to recover from setbacks. One of the standout moments of his season came when he dismissed MS Dhoni, caught at deep backward square leg—a wicket that proved decisive as Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs. Still on the right side of age, Dayal possesses the time and potential to further refine his skills and improve his fitness. If he continues on this upward trajectory, he could carve out a promising long-term future in the Indian Premier League.
